Amanda Peet Biography

Amanda Peet (born January 11, 1972) is an American actress. She started her career in tiny roles on TV, and she made her feature film debut with Animal Room (1995). She was first recognized for her performance as Jill St. Claire on The Whole Nine Yards (2000). Since her appearance, she has been in numerous films, including Identity (2003), Identity (2003), Melinda and Melinda (2004), A Lot Like Love (2005), Syriana (2005), The X-Files (2009), Please Give (2010), Gulliver’s Journeys (2010), The Way, Way Back (2013), and Identity Thief (2013). On TV, Peet starred as Jacqueline Barrett on the WB's Jack & Jill (1999-2001) and as Tina Morris on HBO's Togetherness (2015-2016) as Jules on IFC's Brockmire (2016-2020) and as Betty Broderick on the second season of Dirty John in 2020. Peet was the daughter of Penny (nee Levy), who was a social worker, as well as Charles Peet Jr. a corporate lawyer. She divorced later. Her father is an Quaker and her mother is Jewish. both are atheists. Peet's maternal grandparents were Samuel Levy (a lawyer, businessman and public official who was Manhattan Borough President) and Samuel Roxy Rothafel (a theatrical impresario actor, entrepreneur, and theatre impresario), respectively. After attending Hagen's class Peet was a candidate for acting classes. In the four years she was able to study in the class of Hagen, Peet appeared in the off-Broadway production of Clifford Odets's Awake and Sing! along with Stephen Lang.
