Kirsten Powers Bio

Kirsten Powers was born in Fairbanks (Alaska), USA on December 14 in 1967. Her involvement in the media with Anderson Cooper 360deg (2003, America's Newsroom (2006) and CNN Newsroom (1989) is the reason why she's famous. She was earlier was married to Marty Makary. Was in the Clinton administration as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Public Affairs and was the Vice-President of International Communications at America Online. In the following years, she was Vice-President of the AOL Time Warner Foundation. Her ex-husband, Dr. Marty Makary, is an Associate Professor of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. Her brother is an educator. The daughter of his teacher was born in 2006.Favorite songs: "Mack the Knife" by Bobby Darin, "Sweet Thing" by Keith Urban, "Know Your Enemy" by Green Day, "New York, New York" by Ryan Adams, "American Ride" by Toby Keith.Former press secretary for Andrew Cuomo's campaign for governor. Powers has been active with New York State Democratic politics since a long time. Powers was a part of the staff of the New York State Democratic Committee and also the press secretary for Andrew Cuomo's campaign to become Governor, and the communications director for C. Virginia Fields' mayoral campaign. Powers also participated in the "Vote No on 3" campaign, which beat New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's ballot initiative to end primary elections for the party. Powers was the press secretary for Donnie's unsuccessful bid for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Powers was a consultant for many non-profit groups, including Human Rights First, the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW) and Donnie Fowler's unsuccessful campaign to become Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair.
