Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television from 2013 until 2020.Vergara was a star when she began hosting two TV shows for Spanish-language television network Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's debut major acting role in English. Later, she was in Four Brothers (2005) and Tyler Perry's comedy Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009) with an ALMA Award nomination for the second. She first made her mark as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett on ABC's comedy series Modern Family in 2009. In the role she received four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Her voice-overs included Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also in The Emoji Movie (2017). Since 2020, Vergara has been a judge on America's Got Talent. Vergara was born into an Roman Catholic family in Barranquilla. [8] Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a homemaker as was her father. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, was a rancher of cattle for the meat industry. The five siblings of her and many of her family members called her "Toti". Vergara initially studied dentistry for three years at National University of Colombia, but she left two semesters away from completing her education to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
