Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in Illinois and spent her childhood in Chicago. However, when Amy was in high school, she and her family also lived in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the mother of two sisters: Betsy and Lori, as well as a brother Joe. Amy has backpacked all over Europe with her family as well as on her own. They both worked as teachers and were able to travel and camp together each summer because of this. They've camped in every American state except Alaska. Amy traveled to Rwanda in 1994 after the war to help with the relief efforts. Amy demonstrated artistic talent early when she was acting in school productions and winning writing contests. In high school she was a dazzling athlete who finished in the first ever 3200-meter relay in the Illinois girls track. After sustaining an injury, she could return to the stage and take on a variety of roles such as Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy has graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) as a cum laude graduate with an A.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on Theater. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at The Improv Olympics, and acting at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation she was offered a permanent on the soap show Another World (1964). She was nominated for the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in Daytime Drama Series" category for the Daytime Emmy Award. The most memorable of her roles include of strong women, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson lives in New York City, with Syd Butler as her husband, and is the bassist for Les Savy Fav. She is also the proprietor of Frenchkiss Records, an independent music label, and works as part-owner. Amy is still seeking distinct and varied jobs in the film industry.
