Paula Patton
Paula Patton is the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden) Patton and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American , and her
mother is caucasian, has German, English, and Dutch heritage. Her family lived
across the street from the 20th Century Fox lot when she was young and she was
a huge fan of movies since her earliest days. Her mother was a teacher and her
father worked as an attorney. Paula claims that she used to hide from her
mother by pretending to be someone else as an infant. It's not a surprise that she
participated in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School's plays for high school
students. Her most loved role was "Abigail" from "The
Crucible". After finishing the University of Southern California's summer
program she took film classes and was then given a 3 month project to make
documentaries for PBS. In the end, she was hired as a production associate in
documentaries on TV and also on Howie Mandel’s talk show. After a time she was
able to create documentary segments for Medical Diaries 2000 on Discovery Health
Channel. Paula claims she loves her work but her ambition was the same. She
took acting lessons and then switched to becoming a performer. Her career was
nearly instant success, playing major roles in Hitch (2005), Idlewild (2006)
and Idlewild (2006), and also the lead female character in Deja Vu (2006)
opposite Denzel.
