Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American television chef and former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. The host of her show is Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and bubbly persona Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares clear, easy to learn techniques for the at-home cook on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell worked at top New York restaurants and studied Italian cuisine and landscape. Also, she was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the region of upstate New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and food at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America was a natural next step to take after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a great opportunity for me. There was no way to be able to learn about, practice or do all the things I did. Chef Burrell was a graduate of the Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy was employed for a year in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and it has had an impact on her perception of food. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which aims to enrich the lives of children who face problems. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador in which she promotes awareness of young-onset diabetes. Her travels are frequent across the country in her role as a mentor, and also a an invited speaker, where she talks about her work and passion for cooking. Anne says throughout her culinary career that she's grateful being able to be able to share what's essential for her.
