Patricia Velásquez
Creativity goes beyond canvas, photos
and film. It also acts as a catalyst for philanthropy, charity, and activism.
Patricia Velasquez is an award-winning actress and a history-making supermodel.
Also, she is a committed patron of charity. Author activist, author and loving
mother. She is a strong believer in intuition , and a pioneer of her own
journey. "I consider my professional life as a long , sweeping
staircase," she says. "I have made every step. It was incredible to
accomplish this, since there was a long-term vigor. I just laid my head down,
taking one step at a time, and then never stopped." This is a metaphor
that evokes the first experience of forming. The woman was born in Venezuela,
but she was raised in France or Mexico. After just two years, she made the
decision to move to Venezuela. Parents who were employed as teachers in South
America, moved her family into a cramped, cramped residence with no water and
no elevators. Patricia carried 15 flights of stairs up with heavy buckets in order
to supply water to the unit. In between studying engineering and intense dance
lessons, she endeavored to help the family in every way. Her promise to her
family, which was the key to her rise to the top in the fashion industry, led
to her being scouted for modeling in Milan. She recounts, "When they asked
me about going to Italy to model, I responded"If you can pay thirty bucks
a month back home to Venezuela and it's worth it since that will pay for the
entire cost of the water used in the building's." Patricia's success was
an important moment in fashion when she first brought the attention of the
fashion industry to South America. The "first modeling gig Karl Lagerfeld
photographed" was an enormous breakthrough. She went on to appear in
fashion shows as well as front editorial spreads as well as in ads for Chanel,
Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi. With her worldwide fame, she was featured on
Oprah and Ford Models' "Supermodel of the World" contest , as well.
She was also featured on the covers for Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire as well as
a variety of other publications.
